BUFFALO, NY – Adrienne Gardner (Fremont, CA/St. Patrick-St. Vincent) of the Buffalo State acrobatics & tumbling team and
Kaden Strong (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca East) of the Buffalo State men's volleyball team have been named Bengal Athletes of the Week presented by UBMD Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
Gardner, a sophomore base/mid/tumbler, played a crucial role for the Bengals as they scored a program record 197.550 in their matchup against #12 Duquesne. Gardner competed in 11 of 13 rounds and helped the Bengals score season-high marks in the comp acro, seven-element acro, synchronized pyramid, synchronized toss, quad pass, and the team event.
The acrobatics & tumbling team returns to the mats later this week as they will host the NCATA Division III Championships.
Strong, a sophomore wood/furniture design major, had a trio of strong performances as the men's volleyball team finished the regular season on a nine game win streak to earn the top overall seed in the AMCC Tournament this weekend. Across matchups against Hilbert, Penn State Behrend, and Grove City, Strong totaled 29 kills, averaged a .633 attack percentage, and had 13 blocks.
