ROCHESTER, NY – The Buffalo State softball team fell short in a non-conference double header against the Nazareth Golden Flyers tonight at Flyer Field.
GAME ONE BASICS

- Lexi Quagliana (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) paced the Bengals with a pair of hits and a run scored.
- Izzy Pezdek (Lancaster, NY/Grand Island) pitched six innings on the mound allowing two runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State got the scoring started right in the first inning after Quagliana scored on an error.
- Nazareth picked up two runs on a homer in the third to take the lead.
- The Bengals threatened late with runners on the corners and one out in the seventh, but the Golden Flyers held strong to secure the win.
FOR THE FOES
- Morgan Russo hit the eventual game-winning home run for the Golden Flyers.
- Avery Zembek pitched a complete game allowing seven hits with four strikeouts.

- Grace Albano (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) had a pair of RBI and a pair of hits including her first career home run in the effort.
- Madison Lucas (Oakdale, PA/West Allegheny( picked up three hits for the Bengals.
- Jean Rogers (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) got the start for the Bengals going five innings allowing three runs, five hits, and a pair of strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State got the scoring started again in game two with a pair of runs in the first.
- Rogers held the Golden Flyers silent until the fifth inning when Nazareth hit a pair of homers to take the lead.
- The Bengals responded immediately as Albano laced a two-run homer to help regain the lead.
- Nazareth scored on a wild pitch in the sixth to even the score and eventually send the game to extras.
- After Buffalo State scored in the top of the eighth, Nazareth hit a walk-off two-run homer to earn the double header sweep.
FOR THE FOES
- Sarah Ferruzza had three hits and two RBI for Nazareth.
- Zembek picked up the win on the mound in game two pitching three innings of relief with a pair of strikeouts.
