HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a competitive two-day run in the Bengal Challenge, the Buffalo State Bengals looked to bounce back in winning form as they traveled to Nazareth University to take on the Golden Flyers. In the opening set, the Bengals stormed out of the gates with nine-straight points, seizing full control early. That cushion proved enough to hold off any comeback attempts from the Golden Flyers, as the Bengals cruised to a first-set victory.
- The second set saw the Golden Flyers strike first with four-straight points, but the Bengals quickly responded with a rally of their own to reclaim the lead. From there, the Bengals strung together an eight-point surge to pull away once again, putting themselves in position for a sweep heading into the third set.
- In the final set, the Golden Flyers refused to go quietly, matching the Bengals point for point in a back-and-forth battle. With the score deadlocked at 23-23, the Bengals broke through for the 24th point, only to see the Golden Flyers tie it once more. Unfazed, the Bengals regrouped and closed out the final two rallies, sealing the third set and a sweep on the road.
FOR THE FOES
- Leah Fusilli led the Golden Flyers' offense with nine kills, while Katie Evans directed the attack with a team-high 14 assists.
- Defensively, Fusilli added eight digs, and Chelsea Plummer held strong at the net with two blocks.
