HOW IT HAPPENED
- After falling to the SUNY Potsdam Bears last night, the Bengals looked to rebound and close out their road trip with a win over the SUNY Canton Roos.
- In the first period, the Bengals would often start their attack early, keeping possession in the Roos' defensive zone. The Bengals would be rewarded for their efforts, netting a power-play goal late in the period, walking into the first intermission with a one-goal advantage.
- The second period would repeat the same script, as the Bengals went back on the attack early to add to their lead. However, the Roos would respond by attacking the Bengals' defensive zone and, like the Bengals, taking advantage on special teams, netting the tying goal on the power play. The Bengals would hold off a late rush from the Roos and as both teams entered the second intermission tied at one a piece.
- In the third period, both sides looked for the game-winning goal as the pace of play picked up in this SUNYAC bout. With strong attacks from both teams throughout the period, defense stepped up to keep this game even at one. A late power-play opportunity for the Bengals gave them a chance to finish this game in regulation, but credit to the Roos for holding on and forcing overtime to claim a winner in this matchup.
- An extra period was needed, but it would be a short one, as the Bengals netted the game-winning goal within the first 30 seconds of play and closed out their weekend road trip with a big SUNYAC win on the road.
FOR THE FOES
- Evan Pringle scored the lone goal for the Roos.
- Trey Miller made 24 saves for the Roos between the pipes.
