INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Jamel Scott (Jamaica, NY/Epic South) led all scorers with 14 points, going 6-10 from the field and knocking down two threes from beyond the three-point line.
  • Chisom Ani (Elmont, NY/John Browne) led the Bengals with six rebounds.
  • As a team, the Bengals shot 30.9% from the field, 20.8% from beyond the arc, and 66.7% from the free-throw line.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After knocking off their 'Battle by the Lake' rivals in their last outing, the Bengals looked to stack some wins with their first bout against the Cortland Red Dragons.
  • In the first half, both sides would trade baskets to begin this SUNYAC bout, with the Bengals keeping pace with the Red Dragons. A 9-0 run from the Red Dragons would give them an eight-point advantage over the Bengals midway through the half, and while the Bengals would keep things within two possessions, another late run from the Red Dragons would give them a double-digit lead heading into halftime.
  • In the second half, they would fall behind following another 8-0 run from the Red Dragons, increasing their deficit. The Bengals didn't quit in this one, answering back with their own 6-0 run to cut into their deficit, but as play continued, shots came at a premium, with the Bengals struggling to keep up with the Red Dragons' pace. As the final buzzer sounded, the Bengals fell short in this matchup with the Red Dragons and their latest SUNYAC matchup of the season.
FOR THE FOES
  • Xavier Leveille led the Red Dragons with 13 points, while Joel Davis finished with a game-high 12 rebounds.
  • As a team, the Red Dragons shot 43.6% from the floor and 78.6% from the free-throw line.
UP NEXT
Like the women's team, the Bengals will return to the Sports Arena as they await their next SUNYAC matchup with the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons on Friday, January 16th at 6:00 PM.
