Women’s Basketball Tripped Up at Home

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's basketball team fell in the Sports Arena, 68-52, to the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons in their first of back-to-back home games of the weekend.

  • Naya Haymon (Homewood, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor) led the Bengals with 14 points on 5-15 shooting, including two three-pointers. Amya Moore (Hudson, NY/Hudson) added ten points on 4-8 shooting.

  • In the second quarter, the Bengals responded with a 6-0 run, making it a two-possession game. The Red Dragons answered with a 5-0 run, but the Bengals kept the game close, trailing by eight at halftime.
  • Exiting halftime, the Bengals fell behind as the Red Dragons' defense tightened and points came at a premium. Then, a decisive 12-0 run by the Red Dragons pushed the Bengals' deficit to double digits entering the fourth quarter.
  • In the fourth quarter, the Bengals kept up their intensity as they battled back from the deficit. Still, the Red Dragons maintained their advantage, and the Bengals fell at home in this SUNYAC bout.
FOR THE FOES
  • Lidia Boucher led all scorers with 18 points. Carlie Young had 15, while Boucher and Addy Eckert each grabbed eight rebounds for Oneonta.
  • The Red Dragons shot 38.4% from the field, 26.7% from three, and 50.0% from the line.
