BUFFALO, NY – Josh Mayer (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) was named the 2025 SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year as nominated and voted on by the conference sports information directors.
Mayer finishes an outstanding 2025 campaign after also earning Third Team All-SUNYAC as well as the SUNYAC Elite 20 Award following this past cross country season. Mayer is a sophomore forensic chemistry major with a 3.56 GPA who finished 15
th at SUNYAC Championships this year with a time of 27:07 and has been on the Dean's List each of his first three semesters with the Bengals. He is also the first athlete in program history to earn the honor.
Since the award began in the 2016-17 athletics season, Mayer is now the fourth Buffalo State student-athlete to earn the recognition as he joins Emil Norrman (2022-23) and Brody Power (2017-18) of men's hockey and Jenna Smolinski (2016-17) of women's soccer.
