HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a non-conference loss in the New Year opener against the St. John Fisher Cardinals, the Bengals looked to get into the winning habit as they hosted the Hilbert College Hawks in the Ice Arena this afternoon.
  • The Bengals opened the first period fast, scoring in the opening minutes and taking an early advantage over the Hawks. A concentrated effort from the Bengals offense kept play within the Hawks' defensive zone and would be rewarded with three more goals in the period, walking into the first intermission with a four-goal lead.
  • In the second period, the Bengals maintained puck possession in the Hawks' defensive zone. The Hawks had transition chances, but the Bengals kept them off the scoreboard and were rewarded with a late-period goal, entering the intermission up five.
  • In the third, the Bengals scored once more, securing a six-goal nonconference win.
FOR THE FOES
  • In net, Jewely Monford and Brook Thompson both saw play time, with Monford making 17 saves and Thompson making 39 saves.
UP NEXT
The Bengals will finish their nonconference schedule next Friday, January 16th, when they travel to Nazareth University to take on the Golden Flyers at 3:00 PM.
