HOW IT HAPPENED
- Returning home to the Sports Arena, the Bengals entered another SUNYAC matchup against the only other undefeated team in conference play, the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons.
- As the first set began, the two sides traded points, each looking to get a feel for how the other would attack. The Red Dragons grabbed momentum with a three-straight-point run, but the Bengals returned the favor with a five-straight-point rally to reclaim the lead. With lucky number '25' in sight for both sides, it was the Bengals who crossed the finish line first, taking the first set.
- The second set repeated the same story as the first, as both sides struggled to take control early. However, the Bengals found their rhythm behind a strong crowd in attendance, rallying for six straight points to take a commanding lead. The Red Dragons found life late in the set to keep pace, but a late push gave the Bengals the boost they needed to close it out, putting a sweep in play.
- In the final set, the Bengals flexed their muscles throughout, jumping out early on the Red Dragons before using a four-straight-point run and a seven-straight-point run to cruise to the finish, completing the sweep and, most importantly, keeping their SUNYAC record perfect.
FOR THE FOES
- Lily Pugliese led the Red Dragons with seven kills, with Layla Pertchik finishing with 16 assists.
- Defensively, Abby Stevens led the way with 13 digs, with Shea Landversicht finishing with two total blocks.
