HOW IT HAPPENED
- Returning to the Sports Arena to close out the home portion of their schedule, the Bengals looked to finish strong as they hosted the Plattsburgh State Cardinals.
- In the opening quarter, the Bengals would fall behind as the Cardinals went on the attack early, jumping out to a multi-possession game. As the quarter continued, the Bengals would hold the Cardinals to limited possessions but struggled to find baskets, trailing by 7 points.
- In the second quarter, the Bengals would continue their strong defensive performance by holding the Cardinals' offense. However, the Cardinals would do the same to the Bengals, keeping them off the scoreboard much of the second quarter. As the halftime buzzer sounded, the Bengals would walk into the locker room trailing by double-digits.
- In the third quarter, both teams flexed their offensive talents, making it the highest-scoring quarter of this matchup. Unfortunately for the Bengals, any momentum they found on offense was quickly answered by the Cardinals, with the Bengals walking into the fourth quarter still trailing by double-digits.
- In the fourth, the Bengals would ride a wave of early momentum to get this bout within single digits, forcing the Cardinals on their heels. However, the Cardinals responded with a 10-0 run to drive their lead back to double digits over the Bengals. As time ticked away, the Bengals would try one last push to bring this game back within striking distance, but would fall short in this SUNYAC matchup, falling to the Cardinals at home.
