HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After sweeping their last home weekend of the season, the Bengals looked to keep their winning momentum rolling as they traveled to SUNY Canton to take on the Roos in this SUNYAC matchup.
  • In the first half, both sides would trade baskets in the beginning stages of this high-paced matchup. An 8-0 The run would give the Bengals an early advantage as the game progressed, gaining some separation from the Roos. After tying this matchup midway through the half, the Roos would take a two-possession lead over the Bengals, with time ticking away. However, the Bengals would close out the half in stellar fashion, clamping down on the Roos on defense while scoring seven unanswered points to walk into halftime up by two points.
  • In the second half, the Bengals looked to carry their momentum into the closing minutes. After another back-and-forth stretch from both teams, the Bengals would find some success away from the basket, netting home some tough jumpers to extend their lead to three possessions. However, the Roos would turn this matchup around, pressuring the Bengals on defense to force turnovers and scoring 14 unanswered points to take a sizeable lead over the Bengals midway through the half. As the Bengals fought to bring this matchup back within two possessions, the Roos continued their success at the rim, dropping the Bengals.
FOR THE FOES
  • Lateef Johnson Jr. led all scorers with 23 points, while also leading the Roos with nine rebounds.
  • As a team, the Roos shot 42.0% from the field, 36.0% from beyond the arc, and 57.9% from the free-throw line.
