INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Amya Moore (Hudson, NY/Hudson) and Chyann Kelly (Bailey, CO/Platte Canyon) each finished with a team-high 13 points. Morgan Popp (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) added 11 points, going a perfect 3-3, from beyond the arc.
  • Moore also led the Bengals with nine rebounds, while Naya Haymon (Homewood, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor) led with six dimes in the playmaking department.
  • As a team, the Bengals shot 44.2% from the floor, 50.0% from beyond the three-point line, and 62.5% from the free-throw line.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a six-game homestand that saw the Bengals pick up a win over their rival, Fredonia, a road trip was next on the docket as the Bengals travelled to New Paltz to take on the Hawks.
  • In the opening quarter, the Bengals would take an early five-point lead but would enter a stretch of back-and-forth baskets as play continued. Deep into the quarter, the Hawks would use a 9-0 run to jump ahead on the Bengals, who'd face a nine-point deficit heading into the second quarter.
  • In the second quarter, the Hawks continued their strong play, extending their lead to double digits early. While the Bengals would find some baskets and keep themselves in this matchup, the Hawks would respond with strong shooting of their own, sending the Bengals to halftime down double digits.
  • In the second half, shots would come at a premium for the Bengals, who'd struggle to counter the strong play of the Hawks throughout the half. The Bengals wouldn't quit in this matchup, however, holding the Hawks to under 20 points in the fourth quarter, but their comeback hopes would fall short in this matchup, dropping this latest SUNYAC contest on the road.
FOR THE FOES
  • Hannah Vanderzee led all scorers with 17 points, while Brianna Fitzgerald added 14 points in support.
  • As a team, the Hawks shot 54.8% from the field, 43.5% from behind the three-point line, and 62.5% from the free-throw line.
