BUFFALO, NY – The #18 Buffalo State men's volleyball team fell short in a five-set thriller with the Mount Union Purple Raiders this evening in Houston Gym.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Gavin Wilczewski (East Aurora, NY/Elma) led the Bengals with 22 kills and a .380 hitting percentage.
- Kaden Strong (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca East) and Brady Bowman (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) also had impressive outings as Strong tallied 15 kills with Bowman adding another 10.
- Drew Bowman (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) dished out 45 assists while Xzavier Vanderstouw (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) led the team with 10 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After going back-and-forth in the opening set, Mount Union pulled away late as they scored seven of the final nine points of the set.
- Buffalo State regained their momentum in the second set jumping out to a quick 12-6 start. The Bengals kept their foot on the gas as they held strong to win the set.
- The Purple Raiders fought back in the third set. With the score 20-20, the Bengals scored the next two points. Mount Union responded with five straight points to win the set.
- The Bengals bounced-back again in the fourth set as they scored 10 of the final 12 points to force a fifth set.
- Mount Union came out firing in the fifth set. After a bad set from the Purple Raiders, the Bengals slowly clawed back to even the action at 14-all. Mount Union was able to secure the final two points after a service error and attack error from the Bengals.
FOR THE FOES
- Maddox Snyder led Mount Union with 13 kills with a .407 hitting percentage.
- Drew Stein tallied 13 assists while Luke Pemberton had 11 digs.
