HOW IT HAPPENED
- After their first SUNYAC win against Plattsburgh State, the Bengals traveled to Alfred State for their final non-conference game.
- Scoring began early in the opening quarter as the Bengals found the net twice in the first minutes of play. A scoring frenzy defined the remainder of the first quarter, with four more goals pushing the Bengals to a six-goal lead heading into the second quarter.
- In the second quarter, the Pioneers' defense would step up, containing the Bengals' attack throughout much of the quarter. However, the Pioneers could only hold for so long, as the Bengals would close out the quarter with another set of back-to-back goals, heading into halftime with an eight-goal lead.
- Exiting the halftime break, the Bengals looked to keep control of this matchup and not leave a path open for the Pioneers. A turnover-heavy quarter would limit many chances from both sides, but the Bengals would find a way to add three more goals to their total and head into the final quarter of action with an 11-goal lead.
- In the final quarter of play, the Bengals would net another goal to open play before adding their 13th goal of the night late into the quarter. A Pioneers' goal would eliminate the Bengals chances of a shutout victory, but the Bengals would close out this non-conference matchup strong with their final goal of the night, to cruise past the Pioneers on the road.
FOR THE FOES
- Karlee Hargather scored the lone goal for the Pioneers, while Madelina Casanova led the Pioneers with three groundballs.
- Maeve Runyon led all players with seven saves in the net.
