HOW IT HAPPENED
- After completing their matchup with SUNY Morrisville last night, the Bengals quickly shifted focus to another SUNYAC contest as they faced the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons.
- As first-quarter action began, the Bengals quickly fell behind when the Red Dragons scored two early goals. Building on this momentum, the Red Dragons' strong defensive game plan against the Bengals' explosive offense allowed them to add three more unanswered goals. As a result, the home team took a commanding five-goal lead into the second quarter.
- The Bengals would strike first in the second quarter, finding the back of the net within the opening minutes of action. However, the Red Dragons' defensive effort made it difficult for the Bengals to create opportunities, and the Bengals' offensive mishaps would continue throughout the quarter. After adding two goals to their lead, the Bengals found themselves trailing by six goals heading into halftime.
- Exiting halftime, the Bengals would find new life, storming out of the gates with three unanswered goals to bring their deficit to three goals. However, the Red Dragons would respond with back-to-back goals, extending their lead once again, before a late Bengals answer would see them score back-to-back goals themselves and enter the fourth quarter trailing by three goals.
- In the fourth quarter, the Bengals leaned on the momentum they built in the third, attacking the Red Dragons' defense early. Unfortunately, the Red Dragons' defense was ready, keeping the Bengals off the scoreboard and taking away their momentum with three unanswered goals in the quarter, with the Bengals falling on the road to the Red Dragons.
FOR THE FOES
- Chelsea Dodenhoff led the Red Dragons with five points, scoring two goals and three assists.
- Margot Haring earned the win in net, making nine saves.
