BUFFALO, NY– The Buffalo State softball team earned a split this evening against #25 Rochester on the Buffalo State Softball Field.
GAME ONE BASICS

- Mya Hurley (Williamsville, NY/Amherst) picked up three hits and an RBI for Buffalo State.
- Natalie Burck (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) drove in a pair of runs while Megan Galbraith (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) had the walk-off hit for the Bengals.
- Izzy Pezdek (Lancaster, NY/Grand Island) went the distance on the mound picking up nine strikeouts over the eight innings of work.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Yellowjackets scored in the top of the first, the Bengals scored three runs in the bottom of the second after a two-run double from Burck and a hit from Ashley Jedrich (Victor, NY/Victor).
- Rochester cut the lead to one after a solo home run from Riley Laygo in the third inning.
- After Pezdek drove in an insurance run in the bottom of the third, the Yellowjackets pushed across another run in the top of the fourth.
- Rochester rallied for two runs in the seventh to force extra innings.
- With Briana Fitzgerald (Rensselaer, NY/Rensselaer) on third, Galbraith hit a ground ball to second base to drive in the winning run after a miscue from Rochester.
FOR THE FOES
- Laygo picked up two hits and drove in two in the effort.
- Maddie White took the loss on the mound after 4.2 innings of relief allowing three hits with six strikeouts.

- Five different Bengals picked up a hit in the effort with Pezdek, Erin Paolilli (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington), and Lexi Quagliana (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) each drove in a run.
- Madison Lucas (Oakdale, PA/West Allegheny) got the start on the mound going 2.2 innings with three walks and a strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State pushed across a pair of runs in the first inning after a bases loaded walk from Paolilli and a fielder's choice from Quagliana.
- The Yellowjackets scored five runs in the second inning before adding another four runs in the third inning, capped off with a two-run homer from Julianna Lyons.
- The Bengals tried to get back in the action with two runs in the third inning.
- Rochester sat down the Bengals 1-2-3 in the seventh to secure the split of the action.
FOR THE FOES
- Riley Laygo had three hits and drove in five runs.
