CORTLAND, NY – The Buffalo State men's and women's outdoor track & field team concluded SUNYAC Championships today as
Nyla Wilson-Epps (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry) earned her first career SUNYAC Championship in the discus throw while
Natalia Sawyer (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) earned her third title in the 400-meter hurdles. As a team, the Bengal men finished third overall and the women took home fifth.
THE BENGAL BREAKDOWN
- Sawyer cruised for the win in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.53, nearly four seconds ahead of the next closest runner.
- Wilson-Epps broke her own record in the discus throw 42.50 meters to win the event. Her mark was over three meters furth then the next best thrower. She later finished fifth in the shot put.
- Noah Holden (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
- Both the men's and women's 4x100-meter relays scored points as the men finished fifth and the women were sixth.
- Jalil Coppedge (Bronx, NY/Ralph R. McKee) was third in the 110-meter hurdles while Julius Arias (Lackawanna, NY/Lackawanna) was fourth. Coppedge was later eighth in the 400-meter hurdles while Nolan Lyon (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) was sixth.
- The women's 4x400-meter relay took home fourth while the men finished third, just .18 off Cortland who won the event.
- Terrell Price (Depew, NY/Depew) picked up three points for the Bengals following a sixth place finish in the 400-meter.
- Sidney Morris (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) was second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.41.
- Heidi House (Sanborn, NY/Starpoint) took home third in the high jump with Madison MacNeill (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca West) finishing sixth.
- Ricky Curiel (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) continued his strong meet as he crossed the line third in the 5,000-meter with a time of 15:35.07.
- Ethan Mitrano (Penfield, NY/Penfield) was third in the shout put at 15.96 meters while Matthew Thompson (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) was seventh at 14.49 meters.
