BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's soccer team came away with a 4-1 season opening victory tonight over the Hilbert Hawks on Coyer Field.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Olivia Kilmer (Hammondsport, NY/Avoca) scored twice for the Bengals while Emily Bombard (Chaumont, NY/Immaculate Heart) also tallied her first of the season.
- Three different Bengals earned assists in Makenzie Below (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties), Gwen Jarosz (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield), and Maria Colosimo (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East).
- Head Coach Mike Idland also earned his first win leading the Bengals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Less than ten minutes into the new season, Kilmer netted her first goal of the season off a pass from below.
- Later in the half, Hilbert was able to even the score heading into halftime off a free kick opportunity.
- Despite strong defense from Hilbert, Bombard scored to give the Bengals the lead before Buffalo State added another goal on an own goal.
- Kilmer sealed the win for the Bengals with her second goal of the night, and her sixth career multi-goal performance.
FOR THE FOES
- Ja'Lynn Sanders scored the lone goal for Hilbert.
- Keira McFarland made 12 saves in the effort.
