BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's volleyball team swept the Nazareth University Golden Flyers, 3-0, in a strong showing at home.

- Ella Wittman (Cheektowaga, NY/Springville-Griffith), who was celebrating 1,000 career digs, led the Bengals with 13 kills.
- In the playmaking department, April Jakubowski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) led the Bengals with 13 assists, while Alex Arroyo (Nesconset, NY/Smithtown East) finished with 11 assists.
- Defensively, Hailey Kulniszewski (Elma, NY/Iroquois) led the Bengals with 10 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a rocky weekend in their annual 'Bengal Challenge,' the Bengals returned to their home court as they hosted the Nazareth University Golden Flyers in a nonconference matchup.
- In the first set, the Bengals would get off to a hot start, rattling off six straight points to take a commanding lead over the Golden Flyers. As play continued, both sides would trade four-point rallies before the Bengals would take control of the set with another four-point rally, closing out the Golden Flyers and claiming the first-set win.
- The second set would be the Bengals' strongest set of the season. After falling behind early in the set, the Bengals would get hot with an eight-point rally to take firm control. This strong play would lead to the Bengals' longest rally of the season, as an 11-point run would down the Golden Flyers in the set, with the Bengals looking for the three-set sweep.
- In the third set, the Bengals and the Golden Flyers would battle, with the latter finding some rhythm amid some Bengals' mistakes throughout the set. After trading points throughout the set, the Bengals would see their lead shrink behind a three-point Golden Flyers rally, putting the Bengals in danger of dropping the set. However, the Bengals would remain firm, holding on to close the set and sweep the Golden Flyers in three sets to pick up the much-needed nonconference victory.
FOR THE FOES
- Macy Quibell led the Golden Flyers with seven kills, with Hailey Trank finishing the night with 11 assists.
- Defensively, Macy Quibell led all players with three blocks, while Gretchen Klossner led with four digs.
