Simpson, an undeclared major, made a statement in his first collegiate race, sprinting past the competition in the 60-meter hurdles with a winning time of 8.68 seconds in the final. That time qualified him for the NCAA All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Championships, which will be held March 4-5, 2022. Simpson also competed in the 4x200-meter relay race, finishing fourth, and finished 16th in the 200-meter event.
