POTSDAM, NY—Potsdam (4-5/2-4) tied the score late in regulation and then scored with 12 seconds remaining in overtime to defeat visiting Buffalo State (3-7/2-4) 3-2 in an ECAC West contest tonight at Maxcy Hall Arena.
After a scoreless first period,
Kailyn Murray's (Medicine Hat, AB/Warner Hockey School) first collegiate goalgave the Bengals a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal from
Christine Williams (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls). Potsdam evened the score in the final minute of the second period. Buffalo State pulled ahead again midway through the third period with Murray's second of the game, assisted by
Rio Flynn (Happy Valley, OR/Appleby College). The Bears forced an extra period with the tying goal coming with 2:47 remaining, and then netted their second power-play goal late in the overtime period to end the game.
Alyssa Koniar (New Berlin, WI/Univ. School of Milwaukee) made 31 saves as the Bengals were outshot 34-32.
Buffalo State and Potsdam will square off again tomorrow at 3 p.m.
