BUFFALO, NY—Antonio Speed's (Buffalo/East) 16 points help Buffalo State (13-9/10-4) vault past visiting New Paltz (7-15/4-9), 80-65, in a SUNYAC game today at the Sports Arena.

Jamar Gray (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) added 14 points. Norman Simmons (Rochester/East) chipped in 11 points off the bench, and Glenroy Carr (Amherst/Sweet Home) had 10.

Harris Wichard (Merrick/Bellmore JFK) scored a game-high 21 points to lead New Paltz. Matt Hauser (E. Williston/Chaminade) added 16 points, and Lee Bertram (Bayport/Bayport-Blue Point) had 11 points and 13 rebounds.

After a slow start, Buffalo State used an 11-3 run to pull ahead in the first half and never looked back. After leading 35-26 at the intermission, the Bengals pushed the lead to as many as 23 in the second frame before coasting to the win. Buffalo State outscored New Paltz, 44-24 in the paint.

Buffalo State will host Fredonia on Tuesday at 8 p.m. for the final regular season home game of the season.
