(BOX SCORE)
BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's hockey team (8-7-1/5-4-1) matched its longest unbeaten streak in the program's history as
Kailyn Murray (Medicine Hat, AB/Warner Hockey School) scored a pair of goals leading the Bengals to a 3-1 win over Utica (8-6-2/4-4-2) at the Ice Arena this evening.
The Pioneers opened the scoring at 14:47 of the first period and headed into the intermission up 1-0. Buffalo State roared back in the second as
Katie Olejarski (Rockford, IL/Boylan Catholic) scored on a long wrist shot from just inside the blue line at 7:51 putting the Bengals on the board. Murray then followed that with her first of two goals on the evening netting a power play marker at 16:45 of the second and later adding an empty net tally with 58 seconds left in the game.
Buffalo State held a 30-22 overall shooting advantage including outshooting the Pioneers 24-14 in the final two periods. Goaltender

With the win tonight, Buffalo State tied the unbeaten mark set in 2000-01 when the Bengals had a stretch of six straight wins, as this year's squad has gone 5-0-1 in its past six outing. The Bengals eight wins this season is the second-highest total in school history and are three wins shy of the program record set in the 2000-01 season when the Bengals finished with an 11-4-1 overall record.
The next game for the women's hockey team is tomorrow as Utica and Buffalo State will face off once again at the Ice Arena at 4 p.m.
