BUFFALO, NY—Nationally No. 1-ranked RIT (18-0-2/11-0-2) earned a 4-1 victory over host Buffalo State (7-10/3-8) in a game that saw a combined 43 minutes in penalties this afternoon at the Ice Arena.
RIT scored a pair of first period goals, before Buffalo State got on the board with a power-play goal from
Bri Murphy (Depew/Lancaster) just 31 seconds into the second frame.
Kailyn Murray (Medicine Hat, AB/Warner Hockey School) and
Jen Seguin (Hamilton, ON/St. Jean de Brebeuf) picked up assists on the goal. RIT answered with a power-play goal of its own later in the middle stanza, and added a shorthanded insurance marker in the final period.
The Tigers outshot Buffalo State, 40-14.
Alyssa Koniar (New Berlin, WI/U. School of Milwaukee) made 36 saves in goal for the Bengals.
Buffalo State will tangle with the Tigers at home again tomorrow at 4 p.m.
