BOX SCORE)
BUFFALO, NY—Freshman
Christina Zandri (Baldwinsville/CW Baker) scored her first two collegiate goals and
Jordan Lee (Colorado Springs, CO/Widefield) made 34 saves to lift Buffalo State (2-2/1-1) to a 3-2 victory over visiting Potsdam (1-2/1-2) in an ECAC West game this afternoon at the Ice Arena.
Zandri netted her first goal on a rebound just 5:29 into the game, and then added her second less than two minutes later on a long shot that caromed off a Potsdam defender into the back of the net. The Bears took control in the second period, peppering Lee with 19 shots, but came away with just a single power-play goal.
Christine Williams (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) shoveled in a rebound early in the third period on a shot that was mishandled by Potsdam's goalie to give reclaim the two goal lead for Buffalo State. The Bears pulled within one with 40 seconds left, but were unable to net the equalizer.
Potsdam outshot Buffalo State, 36-23, but Lee was sharp, especially during a busy second period. Potsdam finished 1 for 6 on the power play, and the Bengals were 0 for 5.
Courtney Carnes (Winslow, ME/Winslow) had a pair of assists for Buffalo State.
Buffalo State will host another ECAC West twin bill next Saturday and Sunday when Neumann visits the Ice Arena.
