BUFFALO, NY— Nationally No. 6-ranked Elmira (16-5-2/12-2-2) went 3 for 5 on the power play and cruised to a 5-0 win over host Buffalo State (7-14/3-12) in an ECAC West game tonight at the Ice Arena.

The Soaring Eagles opened the scoring in the first period, and then blew the game open with three goals in a span of three minutes and 30 seconds in the second frame. Elmira added an insurance marker in the third, and outshot Buffalo State, 30-17. Alyssa Koniar (New Berlin, WI/U. School of Milwaukee) allowed four goals on 19 shots, before Jessica Garland (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) surrendered just one goal on 11 shots in relief.

Buffalo State and Elmira will face off again tomorrow at 1 p.m.
