CORTLAND, NY—Buffalo State (1-3) earned its first win of the season, topping Baptist Bible (0-4) in five sets, but lost to Penn State Behrend (2-2) in four, to wrap up the Cortland Red Dragon Classic earlier today.

Buffalo State erased a 2-1 deficit in the first match, prevailing 25-22, 23-25, 23-25, 25-19 and 15-12. Paige Ottaviano (Pt. Colborne, ON/Lakeshore Catholic) led the Bengals' offense in the win with 15 kills. Kelsey Bashore (Antwerp, OH/Antwerp) had 30 assists and 11 digs, and Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) had 14 digs.

In the late match, the Bengals fell to Penn State Behrend, 26-24, 20-25, 17-25 and 19-25. Sam Parente (Bellport/E. Patchogue) had a team-high 13 kills, while Bashore had 32 assists, and Moore had 18 digs.

Sherrell McLean (Buffalo/City Honors) was voted to the All-Tournament Team.

Buffalo State will next play at Medaille on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
