PITTSBURGH, Pa.— Buffalo State (2-3/1-2) used three second-period power-play goals to pull away from host Chatham (0-3/0-3) for a 4-1 victory in an ECAC West game this evening.

After the Cougars got on the board first 7:49 into the game, Melissa Ash (Binghamton/Chenanga Valley) netted her second of the season just 50 seconds later to even the score.  Buffalo State then pulled away in the second period, capitalizing on Chatham penalties and cashing in on goals by Courtney Carnes (Winslow, ME/Winslow), Tara Boliard (Canton, MI/Canton) and Jeyna Minnck (Rochester/Greece-Arcadia). 

Buffalo State owned a 29-17 advantage in shots for the game, and Jordan Lee (Colorado Springs, CO/Widefield) finished with 16 saves in the victory.  Lauren Mallo (Maple Ridge, BC/Thomas Haney) had a pair of assists for Buffalo State.  The Bengals finished 3 for 8 on the power play, and killed off all six Chatham opportunities. 

Buffalo State and Chatham will square off again tomorrow at 2 p.m.
