ASTON, Pa.— Neumann (1-0/1-0) slipped past visiting Buffalo State (1-2/0-1), 2-1, in the Ecac West season-opener for both teams. 

The Knights opened the scoring early in the first period, but freshman Nikki Kirchberger (Buffalo/W. Seneca West) netted her first collegiate goal just over two minutes later to even the score.  The Bengals' goal came during a 5-on-3 power play.  Neumann netted the game-winner midway through the second period, however, and held Buffalo State off the score board the rest of the way.

Jordan Lee (Colorado Springs, CO/Widefield) finished with 20 saves for Buffalo State, as Neumann held a narrow 22-21 edge in shots.  The Bengals were 1 for 4 on the power play, and the Knights finished 0 for 4.

The Bengals and Knights will square off again tomorrow at 1 p.m.
