BUFFALO, NY—Courtney Carnes (Winslow, ME/Winslow) scored the game winner to lift Buffalo State (7-13-2/4-10-1) to a 2-1 victory over visiting Cortland (4-14-1/2-12-1) in an ECAC West game tonight at the Ice Arena.

Shayna McKie (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) also scored for the Bengals.  Jen Seguin (Hamilton, ON/St. Jean de Brebeuf) finished with two assists, while Emily Cornett (Damascus, MD/Wyoming Seminary) chipped in one helper.

Buffalo State got on the board early, scoring at 4:39 of the first period when McKie notched her first collegiate goal.  The Bengals took a 2-0 lead in the second after Seguin fed a lead pass to Carnes on the breakaway.  The Red Dragons scored early in the third stanza to get to within one, but were unable to find the equalizer.

The Bengals outshot Cortland, 26-20, and Jordan Lee (Colorado Springs, CO/Widefield) turned aside 19 shots to earn her seventh win of the season.

Buffalo State will celebrate “Senior Day” when it faces off against Cortland tomorrow at 3 p.m.
