Rio Flynn tied the game in the third period to force overtime
(BOX SCORE)

BUFFALO, NY—Elmira's Ashley Ryan scored her second goal of the game just 44 seconds into overtime to lift the Soaring Eagles (16-3-1/11-2) to a 3-2 win over Buffalo State (5-12-1/2-7) in an ECAC West game tonight at the Ice Arena.

Rio Flynn (Winnipeg, MB/Appleby College (ON)) registered a goal and an assist, while Jeyna Minnick (Rochester, NY/Greece-Aracadia) also scored for Buffalo State.  Courtney Carnes (Winslow, ME/Winslow) picked up a pair of assists and Alison Mish (Canastota, NY/Canastota) also had a helper.

Carnes' two points on the night moved her into a tie for 10th place on the all-time scoring list with 36 career points.

After a scoreless first period, Elmira opened the scoring at the 2:54 mark of the second period, but the Bengals responded with their first of the game just over two minutes later when Minnick recorded her fourth goal of the season.  Elmira regained the lead at 12:35 and held the one-goal advantage until Flynn found the back of the net late in the third period to force overtime.

Elmira outshot the Bengals, 34-9 and finished 1 for 6 on the power play.  Buffalo State was 0 of 3 with the skater advantage and Jordan Lee (Colorado Springs, CO/Widefield) turned aside 31 shots in the loss.

Buffalo State and Elmira will face-off again tomorrow at 3 p.m.
