Box Score BUFFALO, NY—Nikki Kirchberger (Buffalo, NY/W. Seneca West) netted a pair of goals as Buffalo State (0-2/0-2) rallied twice and forced overtime, but eventually lost, 5-4, to Chatham (2-1-1/2-0) in an ECAC West game this afternoon at the Ice Arena.

Kirchberger scored her first of the season on the power play early in second period to give the Bengals the lead, but the Cougars would answer with two of their own to take a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. Buffalo State tied the game at the 2:13 mark of the third, when Kara Goodwin (Avon Lake, OH/Avon Lake) registered her first of the season. Chatham would again answer with two goals, including its second power play marker of the game to extend its lead to 4-2. Buffalo State rallied again on goals by Kirchberger at 11:09 and Jackie Madison (Mentor, OH/Mentor) at 16:37, the first of her collegiate career, to force the extra session, but Chatham's Brianna Rice (Newmarket, ON) ended things when she scored with just 38 seconds left on the clock to give the Cougars the weekend sweep.

Kirchberger, Madison, Melissa Ash (Binghamton, NY/Chenanga Valley), Morgan Haettich (Buffalo, NY/Mount Mercy) and Alison Mish (Canastota, NY/Canastota) each finished with one assist apiece for Buffalo State.

Both teams were 2 for 6 with the extra skater. Chatham outshot the Bengals, 45-18, and Sarah Quigley (Canton, MA/National Sports Academy) had 40 saves in the loss.

Buffalo State will host Adrian in a non-conference game tomorrow at 1 p.m.
