Box Score BUFFALO, NY—Senior Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) netted a career-best 35 points, including his 1,000th collegiate point to pace Buffalo State (4-3/2-0) to a 109-99 victory over visiting New Paltz (3-5/1-1) in a SUNYAC contest this afternoon at the Sports Arena.

Mitchell became the 20th Bengal in school history with 1,000 points, bringing his career total to 1,007. Sophomore Bradley Doyley (Brooklyn/Sports Management HS) also posted a new career high with 23 points to go with five assists. Chris Thompson (Far Rockaway/Channel View) added 18 points and eight rebounds, and Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) had 17 points and seven boards. Only seven players scored all together for the Bengals to total the season-best 109 points.

Buffalo State led by as many as 11 in the first half, before New Paltz rallied and led briefly before the Bengals took a 47-46 lead into halftime. The Hawks took a short-lived one-point lead early in the second half, but the Bengals responded with a 14-0 run and stayed in front the rest of the way.

The Bengals converted 25 New Paltz turnovers into 37 points, while committing just 10 turnovers themselves. Both teams shot 51-percent from the field, but the Bengals had a 30-23 edge at the free-throw line.

Buffalo State will next play in Orlando, Fla. at the Holiday Classic against Carthage on Dec. 20.
