Men’s Basketball Stays Alive in SUNYAC, Blasts Fredonia, 92-74

Roderick Epps scored 30 points to lead Buffalo State to the key SUNYAC victory
Box Score FREDONIA, NY—Buffalo State (13-9/8-8) faced a must-win situation tonight at Fredonia (6-16/2-14) and answered the call, defeating the host Blue Devils, 92-74, snapping a three-game losing skid and keeping its SUNYAC playoff hopes alive.

Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) led three Bengals' scorers in double-figures with 30 points and added five assists and three steals.  Jake Simmons (Rochester/School of the Arts) added 23 points, and Chris Castren (Voorheesville/Voorheesville) chipped in 10 points.

Buffalo State fell behind early 23-16, but roared back with a 26-5 run and never looked back.  The Bengals led 47-35 at the break and did not allow the Blue Devils to cut into the deficit in the second half.

Both teams aired it out from long range as Buffalo State was 9 of 21 from 3-point range, and Fredonia was 10 of 21 from beyond the arc.  Buffalo State finished shooting 47-percent from the field, compared to 42-percent shooting by Fredonia, but the Bengals attempted 20 more shots than the Blue Devils, thanks in part to 16 offensive rebounds.

Buffalo State will host Brockport on Friday at 8 p.m. for its final regular season home game of the season.
