Box Score BUFFALO, NY—
Kara Goodwin (Avon Lake, OH/Avon Lake) had two goals and an assist and Buffalo State (3-19/3-12) survived a late Neumann (6-15-1/2-10-1) rally to defeat the Knights, 3-2, in an ECAC West game this afternoon at the Ice Arena.
The Bengals netted a goal in each period, with Goodwin scoring on the power play at 16:04 of the first period and finding the back of the net again at 12:12 of the second stanza for her team-leading 14th goal of the season.
Melissa Ash (Binghamton, NY/Chenanga Valley) scored her first of the season, and eventual game winner, early in the third period, assisted by Goodwin and
Nikki Kirchberger (Buffalo, NY/W. Seneca West).
The Knights rallied, however, tallying a short-handed goal at the 14:11 mark and scoring again less than two minutes later on the power play to cut the lead to 3-2, but could not find the equalizer.
Heather Neuburger (Fayetteville, NY/Millbrook) and
Alison Mish (Canastota, NY/Canastota) were also credited with assists for Buffalo State.
Neumann outshot Buffalo State, 28-23, including a 14-4 margin in the third period, and
Jordan Lee (Colorado Springs, CO/Widefield) turned aside 26 shots in the win.
Buffalo State and Neumann will play again tomorrow at 2 p.m.
