Box Score BUFFALO, NY—The University of New England (9-11-5) netted the game-winning goal with 3:01 remaining to defeat host Buffalo State (3-20-2), 2-1, in the regular season finale today at the Ice Arena.

Nikki Kirchberger (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca) opened the scoring for Buffalo State with her ninth goal of the season on an unassisted breakaway. The Nor'Easters evened the score late in the second period, and then netted the winner in the closing stages of the final frame.

UNE controlled much of the play, outshooting Buffalo State, 28-12. Senior Jordan Lee (Colorado Springs, CO/Widefield) finished with 26 saves in her final game at the Ice Arena. The Bengals finished 0 for 4 on the power play, and UNE was 0 for 3.

Buffalo State's season may not have come to an end today, however, as Cortland completed a weekend sweep of Chatham in ECAC West play, holding the Bengals in the sixth and final playoff spot. If Elmira beats or ties visiting Neumann tomorrow at 3 p.m., the Bengals will secure the No. 6 seed and will play at the No. 3 seed Oswego on Sat., March 1.
