Box Score BUFFALO, NY—
Kara Goodwin (Avon Lake, OH/Avon Lake) scored twice to erase a two-goal third-period deficit for Buffalo State (2-19/2-12), but visiting Potsdam (11-7-3/7-4-3) added a late goal to escape with a 4-3 win in an ECAC West game today at the Ice Arena.
Freshman
Morgan Haettich (Buffalo, NY/Mt. Mercy) opened the scoring for Buffalo State with her first collegiate goal, pushing a rebound home just 3:50 into the game. Potsdam answered with three-consecutive power-play goals, including one in the first and two more in the middle frame to take a 3-1 advantage into the second intermission. Goodwin pulled the Bengals within one with a power-play marker early in the final frame and then evened the score with her team-leading 12th of the season with 7:37 left in regulation. Potsdam reclaimed the lead for good less than two minutes later, however, when a hard wrist shot off a faceoff caromed off the post and into the back of the net.
Buffalo State controlled play for much of the third period, outshooting the Bears 16-7 over the final 20 minutes. Potsdam held a slight 34-31 advantage in shots for the game, and finished 3 for 7 on the power play. Buffalo State was 1 for 5 with the extra attacker.
Jordan Lee (Colorado Springs, CO/Widefield) made 30 saves for Buffalo State, and
Nikki Kirchberger (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca) picked up a pair of assists.
Buffalo State will wrap up ECAC West regular season play with a pair of home games against Neumann next Saturday and Sunday.
