Eyes on the Bengals
-Buffalo State enters the weekend with a 1-11-1 record (0-6-0 NEWHL) and looking to build off a 1-0-1 record over two games against Rivier University last weekend.
Rylee Garrow (Akwesasne, NY/St. Lawrence Steel) netted her first two collegiate goals, and added two assists to lead Buffalo State, while
Kiara Haynes (Littleton, CO/Team Colorado) also scored her first two collegiate goals and tallied an assist in a 5-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.
-Garrow was recognized as the NEWHL Rookie of the Week on Tuesday for her performance over the weekend.
-Senior captain
Angelina Cruzal (Campbell, CA/San Jose Jr. Sharks) scored her team-leading fifth goal on Friday night, and leads the Bengals with six points on the season.
-Freshman
Sage Running Rabbit (Siksika, AB/Elite Southern Express) is looking to extend her point streak to three games after recording assists on the opening goal in both games over the weekend.
-Freshman goalie
Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Honeybaked Detroit) averages over 41 saves per game and has recorded a .888 save percentage for the season.
Keeping up with the Kangaroos
-Canton has an overall record of 8-2-1 (2-2-1 NEWHL). The Kangaroos have had three postponements to begin the 2022 year, and haven't played since a 5-0 victory over Wilkes on Dec. 11, 2021.
-Iida Laitinen and Micayla MacIntyre are the top point scorers for the Kangaroos, with 16 points each in 11 games. Laitinen's nine goals lead Canton, while MacIntyre has a team-high nine assists.
-Sirena Alvarez has started all eleven games in goal for the Kangaroos, posting an impressive 1.27 GAA, .938 save percentage, and a record of 8-2-1.
