BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's hockey team is set for two NEWHL road matchups this weekend after opening the season with two non-conference victories last week over Wilkes. The road trip begins with a contest against SUNY Canton today at 3 p.m., and continues on Saturday against SUNY Potsdam, also at 3 p.m.

THE BENGAL REPORT
· The Bengals sit at 2-0 for the first time since 2015-16, and have doubled their win total from last season.
· Sage Running Rabbit (Siksika, AB/Strathmore) earned NEWHL Player of the Week honors for her efforts last week as she scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 1-0 triumph. Running Rabbit also contributed two assists in Saturday's 7-1 victory.
· Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Laingsburg) was named the NEWHLs Goalie of the Week for her stellar performances last week. In her shutout Friday, Auge stopped 28 shots, and followed that up with 22 saves on Saturday. Auge's save percentage sits at a .980, the best in the conference.
· Freshman Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) found the back of the net twice on Saturday, the first two goals of her collegiate career.
RESEARCHING THE ROOS
· Canton sits at 1-0-1 following an overtime loss against Alvernia on Saturday. The Roos defeated Lebanon Valley 5-4 in their first game.
· Hannah Clement has scored a goal in each of Canton's games to lead the scoring charge for the Roos.
· Mathilde Couture earned the NEWHL Rookie of the Week award for tallying four points via four assists last week. Couture's four points lead the conference in the early portion of the season.
BREAKING DOWN THE BEARS
· Potsdam has yet to play an official game this season, but won both of its exhibitions. The Bears defeated the HTI Stars 4-0, and the Ottawa MAA 4-2.
· The Bears are coming off a fourth-place finish in the NEWHL standings a year ago, where they lost to eventual-conference champions Plattsburgh in the NEWHL Playoffs.
· Kaylee Merrill is the team's top returning goal scorer and point-getter after registering 16 goals and 22 points a season ago.
THE HISTORY
· The Bengals and Roos are evenly matched in their history, with the Bengals owning a 9-7-1 mark. Canton has won four straight in the series.
· Buffalo State and Potsdam have kept their series close as well, as the Bengals are 14-18-2 all-time against the Bears. Potsdam has won the last three games in a row.
