BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo State's
Eve DiCarlo (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island),
Hannah Esslie (Cairo, NY/Cairo-Durham),
Ryan Berman (River Edge, NJ/River Dell),
Lindsay DePietro (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), and
Addy Williams (Grapevine, TX/Grapevine) of the women's soccer team have been recognized for their outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments, earning a selection to the 2024 Women's Soccer Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators.
To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must display combined excellence in their sport and in the classroom, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above through at least two full semesters at their institution, while also participating in 90%, or starting 66%, of their team's contests during the season.
DiCarlo earns Academic All-District honors for the second straight season after posting a 3.93 cumulative GPA as an art education major. DiCarlo made 18 starts for the Bengals this season tallying six points on a pair of goals and a pair of assists.
Esslie also earns the recognition for the second straight season with a 3.96 GPA as a biology major. Esslie was a staple of the Bengals lineup starting in all 18 games while also totaling a trio of assists.
Joining DiCarlo and Esslie as repeat selections is Berman. The junior defender and early childhood education major had a 3.90 GPA while earning two assists on the year and was named a Third Team All-SUNYAC selection.
The women's soccer team also welcomes two new members to receive the distinction in DePietro and Williams. DePietro, a junior psychology major, had a 3.80 GPA while tallying five points on a pair of goals and one assist. For Williams, the sophomore goaltender posted a 3.73 GPA as a speech pathology major. On the field, Williams started 15 games for the Bengals making 84 saves with a pair of shutouts and a .750 save percentage.
