Buffalo State has announced the hiring of Mike Idland as the Bengals head women's soccer coach effective July 30.
 
Idland brings 18 years of head coaching experience including the past 10 seasons at Brockport where he had a record of 90-56-21.  His Golden Eagles teams qualified for the conference playoffs nine times, won back-to-back regular season Empire 8 Championships the past two seasons, and made a trip to the NCAA playoffs in 2024.
 
Before Idland's time with Brockport, he was the head coach at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, where he also won two back-to-back regular season championships. In his eight seasons with the Panthers, he accumulated a record of 88-54-6. Idland was first named the AMCC Coach of the Year in 2011 after leading Pitt-Bradford to a 13-3-2 record, and was also awarded the AMCC Co-Coach of the Year in the 2015 season.  He started his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at Buffalo State from 2003-2007.
 
Additionally, Idland is the current head coach of FC Buffalo Women, which participates in the pre-professional USL-W league, and he has served as Head Goalkeeper Coach and a senior staff member of the Region I (EAST) Girls' Olympic Development Program (ODP). 
 
Idland lives in East Aurora, N.Y., with his wife, Nancy, and two daughters, Marielle and Molly. Idland holds a USSF "A" license as well as an USC Premier Diploma.
