BUFFALO, NY – Kaden Strong (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca East) of the Buffalo State men's volleyball team and
Dakota Carlson (Perrysburg, OH/Biggby) of the Buffalo State women's hockey team have been named Bengal Athletes of the Week, presented by UBMD Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.
Strong, a junior wood/furniture design major, was a staple of the Buffalo State lineup as they picked up two wins against Regis and Potsdam to open their season with a 6-0 record. Against Regis, Strong totaled 14 kills with a .667 hitting percentage, four service aces, and a block. In game two against the Bears, Strong added another 13 kills with a .600 hitting percentage and a pair of blocks.
The men's volleyball team returns to action this weekend at the Baldwin Wallace Invite where they will battle the Yellowjackets, Mount Union, St. Norbert, and Misericordia.
Carlson, a freshman biology major, had an impressive weekend for the Bengals after tallying four goals. In Friday's win over the Mustangs, Carlson scored twice, including the eventual game-winning goal. In Saturday's effort against Cortland, Carlson added two more goals to bring her season total to 14 goals and 22 points; both marks currently lead the team.
The women's hockey team returns to action on Friday as they will host William Smith at 3:00 pm for another SUNYAC matchup.
