BUFFALO, NY – Naya Haymon (Homewood, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor) of the Buffalo State women's basketball team and
Lucas Signoretti (Ottawa, ON/Sudbury Cubs) of the Buffalo State men's hockey team have been named Bengal Athletes of the Week, presented by UBMD Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.
Haymon, a senior forensic chemistry major, led the Bengals to a 1-1 effort last week. She led all scorers with 20 points while also tallying five steals and four assists against #22 Cortland while also shooting 4-6 (67%) from three-point range. In Friday's win over the Fredonia Blue Devils, Haymon added 13 more points with three steals, five assists, and was 3-4 (75%) from three-point range.
The women's basketball team returns to action on Friday as they will travel to New Paltz for a SUNYAC battle with the Hawks.
Signoretti, a freshman business major, paced the Bengals as they earned a thrilling overtime win over Fredonia on Friday night. Signoretti tallied two goals and two assists including the game-winning goal in overtime. Both goals were also scored on power play opportunities. On the year, Signoretti leads the Bengals with nine goals, 14 assists, and 23 points. He was also named the SUNYAC Men's Hockey Athlete of the Week.
The men's hockey team returns to action on Friday as they will travel to Plattsburgh for a SUNYAC battle with the Cardinals.
