LA CROSSE, WI – Natalia Sawyer (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) of the Buffalo State outdoor track & field team will be the top overall seed heading into the finals of the 400-meter hurdles on Saturday at NCAA Championships. Sawyer posted a season-best time of 59.25 seconds in the prelims.
THE BENGAL BREAKDOWN
- Sawyer won her heat over JoJo Tyynismaa of Wartburg to automatically earn her spot into Saturday's final.
- She is one of four athletes who ran under the one minute barrier at prelims. Sawyer is joined by Tyynismaa (59.41), Nora Chen of Rochester (59.62), and Alivia Henkel of North Central (59.99) to hit the mark.
- Should she win the event on Saturday, she will earn her third career outdoor title, breaking her tie with Willie Hordge for the most outdoor national titles in program history.
