Medaille Captures Betty Abgott Classic Championship; Bengals Down Keuka

BUFFALO, NY—Medaille (4-0) cruised past Albany College of Pharmacy (1-1), 69-50, to win the title at the Buffalo State Betty Abgott Classic this afternoon at the Sports Arena. Buffalo State (1-2) topped Keuka (0-2), 61-51, in the late game.

Carissa Ferrucci (Hamburg/Immaculata) led the Mavericks with 15 points, five assists and eight steals. Lindsey Bergman (Hamburg/Holy Angels) also had 15 point and grabbed eight rebounds, and Amanda Boron (Lockport/Starpoint) added 11 points off the bench. Amber Batzold (Oaks Corners, NY) led Albany Pharmacy with 15 points and had six rebounds and three blocks. Medaille held a 32-25 lead at the intermission, and then steadily pulled away in the second half. The Mavericks outscored the Panther 38-18 in the paint and 35-7 off turnovers.

Buffalo State earned the tourney's runner-up award, posting its first victory of the season over Keuka. Barb Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) led the Bengals with 11 points and added three assists and five steals. Yasmine Debnam (New York/Brentwood) netted a career-high 10 points off the bench to boost Buffalo State. Brittany Schrock (Elmira Heights/Thomas Edison) was the high scorer for Keuka with 12 points. Elena Augustus (Geneva/DeSales) added 11 points for the Storm.
