Buffalo State and Buffalo State Athletics are saddened by the loss of former women's basketball coach James "Jim" Jabir.
Jabir was a decorated collegiate women's basketball coach for over 30 years, winning over 500 games at the Division I level. However, Jabir's coaching career started here at Buffalo State University, where he began as an assistant coach to Buffalo State Hall of Famer and former women's basketball head coach, Dr. Gail F. Maloney, in 1985-86, helping Maloney to their third SUNYAC Tournament win and third-straight appearance in the NCAA Division. III East Regional.

Dr. Maloney took the next season off to pursue her doctorate. Jabir became head coach of the women's basketball team. He led the team to another SUNYAC Tournament victory, completing the four-peat.
Jabir is survived by his wife, four children, eight grandchildren, his brother, and his sister. The full link to Jabir's obituary can be found here.
