BUFFALO, NY—Freshman Virginia Porten (Auburn/Auburn) made seven saves and Buffalo State (7-4-5/5-3-1) blanked visiting Brockport (9-3-3/5-2-2), 2-0, in the SUNYAC regular season finale today at Coyer Field.

Amanda Sauer (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) gave the Bengals the early lead in the 19th minute, converting on a penalty kick after a handball in the box by a Brockport defender. Mindy Wendt (Sanborn/Starpoint) added an insurance marker in the 61st minute with a blast from 30 yards out that snuck inside the left post.

Brockport held a narrow 13-10 edge in shots, but the Bengals had seven corner kicks to the Golden Eagles' one.

Buffalo State will host Elmira on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the final regular season game of the year.  The Bengals will host a first-round SUNYAC playoff game  on Oct. 31 as the No. 4 seed and will meet No. 5 Geneseo.
