Geneseo Knocks Off Women’s Soccer in SUNYAC Quarters, 2-0

Kelly Reuter was one of six seniors that suited up for the Bengals for the final time

BUFFALO, NY—Fifth-seeded Geneseo (12-4-2) overcame the blustery conditions and netted a pair of goals early in the second half to prevail 2-0 over the fourth-seeded host Buffalo State (8-5-5) in a SUNYAC Quarterfinal game today at Coyer Field.

Melissa Beale (Penfield/Penfield) redirected a corner kick from Bre Glynn (Holley/Brockport) for the game's opening goal in the 51st minute. Rian Jock (Altona/Beekmantown) scored for the Blue Knights in the 58th minute with an assist from Beale to complete the scoring.

Geneseo held a 9-8 edge in total shots, and limited the Bengals to just one shot on goal. Katie Clerkin (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) needed to make just the one save for the shutout. Virginia Porten (Auburn/Auburn) had five saves for the Bengals.

Geneseo advances to next Friday's semifinal at top-seeded Oneonta. Buffalo State finishes the season with its highest winning percentage (.583) since 1985.
