BUFFALO, NY— Buffalo State (8-10-1/5-7-1) hung with the No. 2-ranked team in the nation Plattsburgh (15-1-1/11-0-1), but came up empty in the form of a 2-0 defeat in an ECAC West game this afternoon at the Ice Arena.

The Cardinals opened the scoring connecting on a one-timer in the opening period. The 1-0 advantage remained until 11:12 into the third period when Plattsburgh converted on a shorthanded 2-on-1 break to complete the scoring.

Plattsburgh outshot the Bengals 36-14, but Alyssa Koniar (New Berlin, WI/Univ. School of Milwaukee) made 34 saves to keep the Bengals within striking distance.

The road does not get much easier for Buffalo State as its next game will be next Friday at No. 3-ranked Elmira at 7 p.m.
