POTSDAM, NY—A day after seeing its school-record nine-game unbeaten streak come to an end,
Amanda Sauer (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) scored twice to lead Buffalo State (9-4-2/5-1-1) to a 2-0 bounce back victory over host Potsdam (9-8/1-7) in a SUNYAC game this afternoon.
With the win, Buffalo State officially clinched a berth in the conference playoffs with two games still remaining.
The Bengals controlled the bulk of play from the opening whistle, but did not break through until Sauer finally found the back of the net with an unassisted marker in the 68th minute. Sauer added some insurance with an assist from
Jessica Andres (Honeoye/Honeoye) in the 79th minute.
Buffalo State outshot Potsdam 21-5, including 11-0 in the second half.
Virginia Porten (Auburn/Auburn) made three saves for her fourth shutout of the season.
Buffalo State will next travel to Geneseo next Friday for another SUNYAC contest at 3 p.m.
